COLIC IN HORSES
Colic means ANY abdominal pain, from mild to life-threatening.
Catching it early makes a HUGE difference.
Common Signs to Watch For:
- Not eating or acting “off”
- Pawing, looking at the belly
- Rolling or repeatedly lying down / getting up
- Little to no manure
- Restlessness, sweating
- Stretching out, like urinating
What to Do Right Away:
- Take away grain/hay (offer fresh water)
- Walk the horse calmly if safe (don’t exhaust them)
- Check gums, temperature, heart rate if able
- Call your veterinarian immediately
